Request a demoThe CBDC Sandbox provides the Application Layer out of the box, giving you a reference implementation of the apps, tools, and logic needed to simulate a real-world wholesale ecosystem immediately.
A CBDC sandbox is a test environment where a central bank and participating banks can issue, transfer and redeem a central bank digital currency before any real money is involved. Kaleido's CBDC Sandbox comes with the application layer ready to use: a reference implementation of the apps, workflows and tools needed to simulate a wholesale CBDC ecosystem.
The Kaleido CBDC Sandbox comes pre-loaded with wholesale workflows. Central banks can mint and redeem CBDC, issue it to participant banks, enforce holding limits and transaction caps, and run cross-currency PvP exchanges. On the securities side, you can deploy tokenized securities, manage primary distribution, pay out at maturity and settle securities against CBDC with DvP.
Kaleido's technology powers Swift's CBDC Sandbox, and the World Bank and International Monetary Fund used Kaleido to build Learning Coin, a private digital token for teaching their staff how the technology works. Kaleido is also a technology partner for Project Agorá, alongside the BIS and more than 40 financial institutions.
In the Kaleido CBDC Sandbox, the central bank onboards or suspends participant banks, sets global asset limits and freezes activity for non-compliant members. Critical operations like minting go through multi-party approval workflows, so no single operator can issue currency alone.
Yes. The Kaleido CBDC Sandbox gives the central bank a portal for monitoring total system activity, while each financial institution gets its own portal to manage its liquidity and assets. Both come with pre-built user interfaces, so teams can model workflows without building front ends first.
The Kaleido CBDC Sandbox shortens launch time with currency templates, multi-party workflows, legacy system integrations and simulator tools. Because the reference application layer comes already built, teams start testing settlement workflows right away instead of spending months building a platform first.
Every member in the Kaleido CBDC Sandbox gets enterprise-grade key management, so participant banks control their own signing keys. The sandbox also indexes every network event and surfaces reports on activity, which gives the central bank a complete record of what happened across the network during the pilot.
